Conquerors Launch into Matchup versus Mighty Mikinocks

Men’s Preview

The Men Conquerors come off a strong weekend against the Providence Pilots as they came out with a hard-fought split. The Conquerors won game two of the doubleheader and controlled it for most of the game. This will propel them into another big matchup versus the Turtle Mountain Community College Mighty Mikinocks which features two of the top five teams in the NIAC Conference.

TMCC is coming into this weekend sitting at seven wins and one loss which slides them in at the three spot in the NIAC conference standings. According to the schedule to-date however, the Mighty Mikinocks are heading into a tough stretch of conference games starting with the Conquerors who are at five wins and five losses in the conference, which puts them at fifth in the standings. With the Conquerors only having four conference games left, these games hold some weight at this point in the season.

The Mighty Mikinocks come into the weekend with three scorers averaging over 17 points per game. They also have the two top rebounders in the NIAC conference, both averaging over 10 rebounds a game in Koby Azure and Kieler Counts. The Conquers come in playing their best defensive game of the season where they held the Providence pilots to just 54 points. In game two, the Conquerors were led by Sophomore Mikah Olson who had 27 points and 11 rebounds. The Conquerors are ready for a battle against the Mighty Mikinocks as the conference standings start to shake out.

Women’s Preview

The Lady Conquerors played strong games this past weekend against the conference leading Providence Pilots, highlighted by a close first game where the Conquerors kept it close throughout. The Lady Conquerors are prepared for a tough conference matchup against the Turtle Mountain Community College Mighty Mikinocks. This weekend’s games are important to both teams as they fight to come out of the middle of the pack in the NIAC conference.

The Mighty Mikinocks are coming into this weekend’s games sitting at the four spot in the conference while the Conquerors come in with just one less win on the season in the seven spot. TMCC has more games left to play, but the Conquerors headline that first group of opponents, making these two games important for both teams.

The Lady Conquerors come in having played some of their best ball as of yet. Madison Trussoni and Grace Dryburgh lead the charge on offense as both are in the top 15 in the NIAC in scoring. Grace and Freshman Hannah Boyer lead the team in rebounds while Maddie and Becca Olson lead the team in assists. The Ladies are able to go deep off the bench, so a back-to-back battle against the Mighty Mikinocks is something the Conquerors are ready for.
