On Tuesday night, the FLBC Conquerors matched up against non-conference opponent Ridgewater College from Wilmar, MN. The Ridgewater Warriors are members of the Minnesota College Athletic College, one of the most competitive and successful Division III NJCAA conferences in the nation. In a great college basketball environment, the Warriors came out very aggressively and jumped out to a significant early lead. The Conquerors struggled to respond and once they did, the differential remained large with the Warriors enjoying a 17-point halftime lead. In the second half, the Warriors continued to pull away, earning the victory over the Conquerors 87-54. The Warriors enjoyed a 51-28 rebounding advantage over the Conquerors, with Sam Olson and Travis Visser scoring 21 and 18 points respectively. Visser also grabbed an amazing 23 rebounds individually in the game. For the Conquerors, Micah Moan (18 points) and Luther Zeltinger (15 points) carried the scoring load. The team shot poorly from the field all night, but especially in the first half. The level of competition was in sharp contrast to the games played the previous weekend, contributing to the difficulty the Conquerors had in adjusting to the intensity and speed of the game. Lessons learned from this one will undoubtedly benefit the Conqueror Men as they look ahead to another pair of games this weekend as they travel to Iowa to play Emmaus Bible College in Dubuque on Friday evening and Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny on Saturday afternoon.
