Both FLBC teams were in action on Wednesday. First, the men played Champion College from Hot Springs, AK. In a game reminiscent of the day before, the Conquerors jumped out an early lead and controlled much of the game. In the second half, some hot shooting closed the gap for Champion and they took a late lead. Down two with 9.8 seconds remaining, the Conquerors could not convert, losing by a final score of 89-87. The guys played extremely well and executed the game plan effectively. Unfortunately, it did not translate into a win on the scoreboard to reward their efforts. The FLBC men will play again today (Thursday) against Union College from Lincoln, NE at 1:45pm. The game will not be livestreamed.

In the women’s game, the Lady Conquerors were also matched against a strong and deep team from Champion College. FLBC came out aggressively and were not intimidated by the overall #2 seeded team in the women’s bracket. Despite a valiant effort and a no-quit attitude from the Conqueror Women, the Champion team steadily pulled away to an 80-35 victory. The FLBC women will play their second game of the tournament this afternoon at 3:30pm against Carolina Christian. Unfortunately, that game will also not be available to live stream. Both Conqueror teams look to rebound after tough loses today. Find out how they did by checking back tomorrow for another Conqueror Basketball update from the ACCA Tournament in Joplin, MO.
